Location:

Hissar is a town in Bulgaria, situated about 175 km away from the capital of Sofia and near the city of Plovdiv, in the outskirts of the Sredna Gora Mountain.

Roman Emperors Balneal Resort:

Because of the mineral springs, the town was founded more than 7000 years ago. It is one of the oldest European balneal resorts. Even some pre-historic remains have been found in the town centre. Later, it became a Thracian city, and when Thrace fell to the Romans it became one of the three most important towns in the province and famous balneal resort place of Roman Emperors (Diocletian, Septimius Severus, Maximian, Licinius ) and of the aristocratic families of Rome (patricians).

Many Roman ruins are still visible everywhere - public buildings, a small amphitheatre, the barracks of the Roman garrison, the foundations of a couple of the oldest churches in Bulgaria, as well as the best preserved Roman fortress in Bulgaria. The southern gate is known as "The Camels", because it had broken in the middle and looked like two camels facing each other, before it was partially restored in the early 20th century.

Mineral Waters, Balneology and SPA:

Hissar today is a modern spa resort. There are 22 mineral springs in the town with temperature ranging from 37^○C to 51^○C. The water is of low mineralization, clear, colorless, and pleasant for drinking. It is hydrocarbonate - sodium, sulfate, rich in metasilicon acid, fluorine and radon. The magical springs of Hissar differ from our other resorts in their varied chemical composition, temperature and characteristics. Every spring is known to heal different health problems. The healing effects of Hissar mineral springs lead to a positive outcome in the treatment of kidney, urological, stomach and liver disorders as well as injuries of the locomotive system. In addition, they have a favorable effect on patients with problems of the digestive system, chronic gastritis, stomach ulcer, gall-stones, diabetes, chronic hepatitis, chronic pancreatitis, etc.

Climate:

The climate is moderate continental with mild and warm winter. The area is protected from cold air masses by the Balkan Mountain Range and the Sredna Gora Mountain. Winter is warm and soft. The snow cover lasts on average for about 12 days. Spring is early and warm. Summer is moderately hot - average monthly temperature - 22˚C. Autumn is moderately warm and long - by the end of October, warmer than spring with about 2˚C.

Tourist program:

1 Day. Meet and assist from Sofia International Airport and transfer to SPA resort Hissar. Accommodation in the hotel, free time and overnight. (Friday or Saturday, possibility to add additionals days in Sofia)

2–6 Day. Breakfast, time for recreation and relax, overnights in the 4-star SPA hotel in Hissar. You will have nearly a week to enjoy your SPA holiday and get to know to the millennium cultural heritage of the town.

You will be accompanied by the medical staff and according to the doctor’s advice you can choose 2 or 3 balneology treatments per day in your package. They include treatment with mineral water / physiotherapy / inhalations / paraffin / massage and medical consultation. You will have access to sauna, fitness and Jacuzzi.
